Gambling in Casinos

Customers gamble by participating in games of chance, some of which have a skill component, such as video poker, baccarat, craps, roulette, and baccarat. The odds in the majority of games are calculated statistically to guarantee that the house always has the edge over the players. Gamblers do so for a variety of reasons, including the rush it gives them, the chance to earn cash, the chance to meet new people, or the chance to get away from troubles or stress. However, gambling may spiral out of control for certain people. You might have a problem if you start borrowing money, borrowing more than you could ever afford to lose, or if gambling causes you to worry and anxiety. Help is available if you wish to quit playing the lottery. You can attempt self-help techniques, seek treatment, and engage in support groups.

Like drugs and alcohol, gambling may turn into an addiction if you engage in it obsessively or feel insecure. The area of our brain that produces dopamine, a “feel good” hormone that fosters sensations of pleasure and reward, can be impacted by gambling. Our brains provide us with an experiential reward when we score a wager. If you develop a gambling addiction, you could stop feeling good after engaging in other enjoyable activities. To receive the same buzz, you will wager in place of that. The excellent thing is that you can get your brain’s chemistry back to normal. Life might seem pleasurable again daily.

Around two million Americans are thought to be gambling addicts, and up to 20 million of them report that their habit significantly interferes with their social and professional lives. When someone gambles, they put something valuable at risk in the hopes of winning something even more valuable. A gambling problem is an overwhelming desire to keep gambling despite the negative effects it has on one’s life. Gambling is addictive because, like drugs or alcohol, it activates the brain’s reward system. In actuality, the most prevalent illness of impulse control around the world is gambling addiction.

Frustration for money, the “high” that comes from the excitement of betting, and the enticing ambiance of the betting scene are just a few of the variables that might help someone develop a gambling addiction.

The Effects of Gambling on the Brain

Gambling addiction is linked to dopamine release in the brain, just as addiction to drugs like meth and cocaine. The reward system of the brain is impacted by addictive drugs, which also cause a 10-fold increase in dopamine release. The body subsequently builds up a tolerance as a result of repeated use since the body’s natural dopamine synthesis is suppressed and it requires increasing amounts of the stimulating chemical to feel the same thrill.

Gambling addicts seek riskier endeavors and place progressively greater bets to experience the same thrill they formerly experienced, much as people with drug use disorders need increasingly powerful shots to feel high or increasingly enormous volumes of alcohol to become intoxicated. Furthermore, studies indicate that drug users and compulsive gamblers have a lot of the exact genetic factors for recklessness and reward cravings. Additionally, while trying to stop, compulsive gamblers and people with drug addiction issues both experience withdrawal symptoms.

Winning Real Money Big at Australian Online Casinos

Wild Fortune Casino reminds Australian players – never think that since you wager a lot, you should win. Players spend a lot of time playing the same machine at land-based casinos because they think that since they have invested so much money, the machine must finally pay out winnings. However, a video slot uses a random set of numbers that awards a prize when it is appropriate.

Pause before you run out of money if you have a winning streak that abruptly turns into a losing streak. Don’t start making more deposits if this occurs to recover the lost funds. Accept your defeat and try again later. There are no certain ways to win at slots, however, we do always suggest reading up on a machine’s features and winning combinations. Starting a game without having any prior knowledge of it is not smart. Without understanding how the oven works, you wouldn’t put food in it. As it is so difficult to win in casinos, therefore, Wild Fortune Casino has decided to send some lucky players on a sea cruise. It is a great strategy to attract players around the globe and encourage them to play more and more.

Unusual wedding traditions of different countries

Battered grooms, muddy brides, and laced honeymoon teeth are not yet a complete list of what happens to newlyweds from different countries before their wedding. Every nation has its own customs and customs that sometimes shock us. Here is a selection of the most unusual wedding traditions from all over the world.

Nigeria

The man of the Ibo tribe must prove that he is ripe for marriage. The ritual goes as follows: in a row all the numerous relatives of the bride are lined up, and the future husband has to pass through this crowd. It’s all right, except they beat him with sticks. The brides of this tribe are not so lucky either, because not all African women have a beautiful figure in the Nigerian conception of beauty. To be considered a real beauty, girls have to gain as much weight as possible before their wedding. They are given to special institutions to ensure that they eat grain of kilos and drink litres of fat camel milk. And they’re very limited in their movements. This is a pair like this: a battered groom and a pom pom gun bride.

Nepal

A morally cruel tradition exists in Nepal. Here in advance (for 20 years) agree on the wedding ceremony of future mothers of spouses when babies are still in their bellies. If two guys or a couple of babies are born, the engagement ends. Parents are not interested in the feelings of the newlyweds, except that if the groom or the bride wants to run away from the wedding, he will never be accepted into the family again.

Switzerland

In a clean and civilized Switzerland, which is renowned for first-class medicine, a terrible tradition still persists in some areas and settlements: on the day before the wedding, the bride is doused head to toe with mud. Yes, true dirt from a bucket! The more unpleasant it looks and smells, the more delighted the participants in this unusual procedure. In the making of this infernal mixture everything goes: ketchup, mayonnaise, eggs, beer, kefir, rotten leftover food.

After such «soul», the bride travels to all public establishments of the town accompanied by a convoy of the groom’s friends to demonstrate to the visitors the observance of tradition. It is believed that after such a humiliation, all other future pranks of the benevolent will seem to the wife childish. And there will be no scandals in the family. There is some logic to this, but it is too cruel.

Korea

A joyous event, a wedding, for the Tujia people who live in the People’s Republic of China, goes on with tears in their eyes. Literally. Traditionally, the bride begins to cry daily with burning tears a month before her wedding. Ten days later, instead of comforting her, she is joined by her mother, through as many other relatives, and on the eve of the wedding ceremony, the girlfriends begin to cry. It is taught to women from an early age, as it is believed that the more tears are shed, the happier and more carefree a family life will be. But these are all flowers compared to the customs of Africans.

Italy

In Italy weddings take place in a magnificent, loud and fun way – to match the people inhabiting this «boot». But unusual traditions have also them: the friends of the newlyweds enter the house where the first wedding night will take place and prepare «surprises» for the new wives and husband: spice the conjugal bed or start alarm clock at the wrong time and hide them all over the room, trying to «To annoy» spouses on this important night, more precisely, to make it insomnia and turbulent. But sometimes the company just knocks on the window in the middle of the night and demands that they be fed. Fortunately, the young wife always has a pan of spaghetti ready for this occasion, which she had as a bride.

Libya

It’s a long wedding, a week away from the holiday table. Strange things begin to happen on the sixth day of the wedding, when the groom gives the bride a guff, a gift basket. The  contents of the guffa are: fabric, perfume, incense. A young wife, in order not to offend her new husband, must immediately try all gifts. For this purpose, the name is given to one of the female relatives of a girl, such as a sister, who has to take incense from the basket one by one and rub it on the heel of the bride. It is believed that after this ritual, a wife will be able to keep her husband under her thumb for the rest of her life.

Motion sickness or seasickness

Some people get motion sickness while traveling on a yacht, boat, or land vehicle. Sometimes unpleasant symptoms accompany a person throughout the trip, preventing him or her from enjoying their rest.

Motion sickness, or motion sickness, is a sensation of nausea, dizziness and vertigo caused by monotonic vibrations. This symptom complex has long been called “motion sickness.” People experience seasickness symptoms while sailing on a yacht, boat or ship, traveling in a car, bus or airplane.

Sea sickness affects 5-10% of the population over a lifetime. Mostly children from 2 to 12 years old are affected. Women suffer from motion sickness more often than men. However, in particularly unfavorable conditions, such as strong rocking, anyone may experience symptoms of motion sickness.

Causes of motion sickness

The nature of this syndrome is a dysfunction of the vestibular apparatus, which is located in the semicircular canals of the inner ear. During a sea voyage or a ride in a motor vehicle, the brain perceives conflicting information. On the one hand, the receptors in the inner ear perceive the environment in a moving vehicle as stationary, because the body does not move during the trip. At the same time the eyes register movements in space. This disproportion in the information perceived by the brain results in dizziness and nausea.

Factors contributing to the development of motion sickness:

  • Hereditary inferior development of the vestibular apparatus;
  • fear;
  • Heat and stuffiness in the room;
  • strong smell of tobacco;
  • alcohol use;
  • emotional overstrain;
  • overexertion;
  • pregnancy.

Symptoms of motion sickness

Regardless of the factors, the symptoms of motion sickness are the same. However, depending on the individual characteristics of the body, people tolerate motion sickness differently. The classic symptoms of “seasickness” are increasing dizziness, nausea, vomiting. This is often accompanied by a pale skin and mucous membranes, cold sticky sweat, anxiety, sleep disturbance and lack of appetite.

Seasickness behavior can also vary. For some people, seasickness is accompanied by apathy; for others, on the contrary, by intense agitation. As soon as the person leaves the source of motion sickness (for example, go out on land), the symptoms subside, and then disappear.

Prevention of motion sickness:

  • Refrain from consuming food, alcohol, and heavily carbonated beverages before traveling. Do not eat less than two hours before travel;
  • during the trip try to distract yourself from thoughts of motion sickness, do not read, the best way is to talk with a neighbor;
  • it is better to sit in the stern of the ship or in the front of the vehicle, looking ahead while driving;
  • it is strictly forbidden to face the opposite direction to the motion, it provokes an increase in symptoms.

Treating motion sickness

If you know that you are prone to motion sickness, it is advisable to take one of the vestibulolytic drugs an hour before the trip. These are mainly dimenhydrinate-based medications. For seasickness, it is best to go down to the cabin, lie down, close your eyes, and try to sleep.

If there are no pills at hand, sour fruits can help. Green apples or lemons are ideal. A good remedy for motion sickness is ginger root. It is recommended to take one teaspoon of crushed root in powder form one hour before departure. Peppermint gum, tea with mint and lemon will also be effective.

20 surprising facts about the seas that you may not have known

What are the “most-amazing” seas in Russia? Are there seas on other planets? At what temperature does seawater freeze? Find the answers to these questions and many other nautical questions below.
Which sea has the most states along its coast? Can you drink seawater? What are the “most-most” seas in Russia? Are there seas on other planets? At what temperature does seawater freeze? Look for the answers to these and many other maritime questions below. At the same time you will find out if it is possible to count all the seas, how much gold is in the water of the oceans and why it is still there.

  1. Scientists can’t decide how many seas they have: their number varies from 54 to 90. The good thing is that there are only four oceans. There were. Now there are five: the Pacific, the Atlantic, the Indian, the Arctic and the Southern.
  2. The boundaries of the seas are a changeable concept. Thus, the Black Sea conquers the land at a rate of about 1 m in 5 years. But the Caspian Sea, which is more often called a lake, is quickly becoming shallower.
  3. On the territory of Russia there are several “most-small” seas: the coldest is the East Siberian Sea (-1.8…+5 °C), the smallest are the White Sea (90 000 sq. km) and the Sea of Azov (37 800 sq. km). The latter is also recognized as the shallowest: its depth does not exceed 13.5 m.
  4. The Weddell Sea (West Antarctica) is considered the cleanest, and the Mediterranean is the dirtiest, probably because most of the states are located near its shores. According to Greenpeace and the Spanish World Ocean Research Institute, 33 types of waste can be found in every cubic meter of water of the Mediterranean Sea.
  5. The Mediterranean Sea is also considered the most “inhabited” – there are about 9 thousand species of living creatures. But the Black Sea, on the contrary, is “inhabited” little and only in the upper layers. At a depth of over 200 meters no one lives there, except bacteria: too much hydrogen sulfide.
  6. The Mediterranean Sea and the Sea of Azov used to be land. The first arose as a result of the rising level of the Atlantic Ocean, the second – because of the Black Sea Flood in 5600 BC.
  7. The most salty sea – no, not the Dead Sea, because it is a lake, but the Red Sea. One liter of its water has 41 grams of salts.
  8. The Red Sea is the only one in which no river flows into it. Because of this, its water is very clear (and very salty, too, largely because of this). It is also the warmest sea.
  9. The largest seas are the Sargasso Sea and the Philippine Sea. Sargasso Sea is the largest in terms of area, in addition, it is the only one located right in the middle of the ocean. Philippine Sea – the deepest, it is in its territory is the Mariana Trench depth of more than 10 000 m.
  10. If you are going to dive, remember: the shallower the dive depth, the brighter the colors. Red color disappears already at 6 m from the surface, and at a depth of a few tens of meters remain only blue and purple.
  11. On the seafloor there are mountains and geysers. There, in the depths, even rivers flow – the water in them has a different density, so it does not mix with the sea.
  12. At the bottom of the seas and oceans lies about three million ships! The most dangerous ones are in the Baltic Sea, these are vessels with chemical weapons sunk during the Second World War.
  13. Most chemical elements can be found in seawater. Some of them do not go to waste. For example, seawater gives out almost half of all magnesium in the world and quite a lot of bromine. As for gold, there are about 20 million tons of it in the world’s oceans, and most of all – in the waters of the already mentioned Baltic Sea. But it’s not profitable to extract gold from sea water – it’s not worth the effort. But it is possible to dive for treasures.
  14. Seawater is used for drinking. However, to do this, it is desalinized beforehand. The procedure is not easy and expensive, but the same Saudi Arabia does not have much choice – they have to drink the Red Sea.
  15. In Hong Kong they use seawater in toilet flush systems to save fresh water.
  16. Seawater freezes at an average temperature of -1.9°C because of the salts. Zero is enough for fresh water.
  17. Sometimes wandering waves, or killer waves, are born in the seas and oceans. This is the name given to waves that arise suddenly and for no apparent reason, they are usually twice as high as the highest waves typical for this part of the water surface. On the peaceful Black Sea, the title of “killer wave” may be a wave with a height of 5 m, in the North Sea, the height of such waves is about 25 m, and in the open ocean – can be off the scale of 100 m! Such waves cause the death of boats and even supertankers.
  18. There are seas not only on Earth, but also on other planets. True, they are not really seas. That is, they are not made of water. On Saturn’s moon Titan, the seas of Ligeia and Kraken are made of liquid hydrocarbons. And lunar seas are called basaltic plains of solidified lava.
  19. Man is constantly creating new seas – so the people call the reservoirs, emerging usually after the construction of hydroelectric power plants. However, these reservoirs cannot be considered real seas, as they have no connection with the World Ocean, they have completely different characteristics of the bottom and the water is not salty.
  20. However, salinity is not such a prerequisite. For example, in 2019, scientists from Columbia University discovered and even mapped a quite fresh sea. Interestingly, it is located under the Atlantic Ocean at a depth of about 183 meters. Perhaps similar seas will be found in other parts of the planet and become the most important reserve of fresh water, which a number of countries greatly lack.

10 unnecessary things: what you should not take on a cruise.

The desire to take everything with you on a cruise is natural, especially if you’re going on a cruise for the first time and don’t know what you’ll encounter.

Household appliances: kettles, irons, hair dryers…

A fire on the ship and on the high seas is an extremely dangerous thing and cruise companies are trying by all means to minimize risks. That is why all the potentially flammable equipment is prohibited on cruise liners.

So, be prepared to have your suitcases ironed in self-service laundry (where it’s available) or hand them over to steward (which will cost you money). Those who like to drink tea or coffee will probably want to pack a kettle or small kettle in their suitcase, which you shouldn’t do either.

What to take instead?

To make sure your clothes don’t look like a bulldog’s face after your suitcase, buy a special anti-fold spray for the road (yes, it exists).

Lovers of tea and coffee, who do not want to spend extra money on it in the coffee shop on the liner, we recommend to take on a cruise tea and coffee bags, and boiling water can be found in the buffet.

Stabbing, cutting and other dangerous objects.

Nail scissors, nail files and wire cutters do not count. Penknives are usually allowed, too: the rules of the cruise companies may vary, but as a rule, you may take a knife with a blade length shorter than 10 cm.

True, it’s better to be reinsured and pack your Swiss knife in the suitcase, not in hand luggage. Similar to weapons things (lighters or toy guns) are prohibited. We recommend that smokers leave their favourite Zippo at home and limit your carry-on to disposable lighters – no petrol ones allowed.

Liquor and beer (depends on the cruise).

Depending on the cruise company, you may be forbidden or limited to the amount of alcohol you can take on board. So don’t be in a hurry to buy alcohol at the DutyFree at the airport: your stock of “firewater” can be confiscated by security upon boarding. And if in some companies the “contraband” will be simply detained and returned at the end of the cruise, in others it will simply be thrown overboard. So, read the rules carefully before you go on a cruise.

If you’re going on a cruise on a stringent liquor company such as Costa or MSC, you will either have to forgo liquor or shell out some money (the price of alcohol on cruises is a sore subject for travelers). On those cruises, where you are allowed to take a certain amount of strong drinks, we recommend to take stronger and more expensive drinks. On how to save money on booze on the cruise and other tricks read our article.

Books.

No, the cruise company will not mind if you take with you a collection of Shakespeare’s works or all the volumes of the Great Soviet Encyclopedia. But think about it, is it worth carrying a few extra pounds? Instead of carrying a paper book, pick up an e-reader or tablet. It will not be comparable to a real “real” book, of course, but it will save you a lot of luggage.

Some gadgets and toys.

If you are traveling with children or a big kid yourself, you may want to take your favorite entertainment with you on vacation. But keep in mind that scooters, segways, kites, and your favorite quadcopter (as well as other radio-controlled toys) will have to be left at home.

But board games or cards will help pass the time. And on a cruise liner full of entertainments: climbing walls, water slides, surfing and free-fall simulators, bowling, etc., which will not let you get bored.

Jewelry.

Even if you plan to go out and want to shine at the captain’s reception, try to do without expensive jewelry. Tourists and their luggage are a frequent target for thieves of every kind, especially in port cities. With your fancy dress and necklaces you will attract the attention not only of the surrounding passengers, but also of criminal elements, who will see an excellent opportunity to make a profit.

Homemade food.

Oh these smoked chicken bacon and boiled testicles, which for a long time were the indispensable attribute of “russo touristo”. And now, sometimes, in the train or plane, you can meet the orthodox, from whose luggage familiar flavors can be heard. We do not want to discourage you to take on a trip “hiking pack” – it really can be useful on the way to the cruise (in the car, airport). But try to destroy the food supplies before you board the liner. Cruise companies don’t want problems in the form of food poisoning after enduring a long voyage, or worse, an epidemic of roto- or norovirus on board, so carefully prepared homemade cutlets or a burger from McDuck will go overboard.

Inflatable mattresses.

You may be surprised, but air mattresses, bouncy castles and other paraphernalia for relaxed rocking in the pool cannot be taken on board.

An extension cord with surge protector.

Although this thing would be very useful on a cruise (there may only be one outlet in the cabin, which is not enough for all your modern devices), many cruise companies do not allow tourists to take them with them.

Why? Cruise companies explain that such devices increase the load on the ship’s electrical grid and increase the risk of fire. At least tees and other splitters can (and even should) be brought on board.

Bad moods.

Small nuisances fly by unnoticed if you ignore them and just enjoy life. But if you are in a negative mood and see only the bad in everything, the problems will grow like a snowball. And even the most helpful staff on the sunniest day on a divine island paradise won’t bring you happiness on a silver platter if you’ve surrounded yourself with a wall of anti-happiness.

And that’s it!
For today. Have a good wind in your life, warm sunshine, and good friends!

What to take on a sea cruise

Electronics

What trip is without gadgets these days? You can take a laptop or tablet, for example, to pass the time on a sea day while watching your favorite TV series. In the cabins of most cruise ships are modern flat-screen TVs, some can be connected to some via HDMI cable. But the number of outlets in the cabins is limited (1-2 per cabin), we advise you to take a tee for charging gadgets. There are both American outlets (110V) and European outlets (220V) on most cruise liners, but the European sockets may be thin, so to charge the laptop or camcorder you’d better take the adapter. It will be possible to access the Internet via ship’s WiFi, if you are not afraid of the rates. The average cost per minute of Internet on the cruise liner is about 75 cents. The pleasure is not cheap. Do not forget your camera.

Entertainment

Perhaps you decide to take a break from high technology and take a book, magazine or crossword puzzles with you. There’s not much hope for the ship’s library in this regard. The book, by the way, can then be left in the library for other Russian-speaking passengers. For anyone going to Alaska, Antarctica, or other wildlife habitats, binoculars are a must. If you are traveling with children, bring toys for the beach. Do not forget that they should be easy to blow off and easy to pack.

Medicines

Be sure to bring a mini first aid kit. Medicine on a cruise liner is paid and not cheap (aspirin tablet – $3, doctor`s consultation even on trifling matters – from $50). We recommend you take a plaster and nail scissors (large may be removed).

Toiletries

The ship should provide you with soap and shampoo (and often body lotion, conditioner, and shower gel), but if you are sensitive to this issue, take your own supplies. The same goes for the hair dryer: if you can’t accept the low wattage of the one in the cabin, bring your own. Read more in this article about cruise ship staterooms. You can also take sunscreen with you if you’re traveling to hot countries.

Luggage storage.

Some travelers take extra hangers, but there is usually enough in the cabin. If you plan to do a lot of shopping, take a folding bag that will be in your suitcase first and then gradually begin to fill up with souvenirs (or dirty laundry). For port excursions, we recommend taking a small backpack or bag where you can put your camera, water bottle, and other items you might need on land.

Drinks

Most cruise lines will allow you to carry plain water or sodas on board, thus reducing your spending on non-alcoholic beverages. But you have to be careful with alcohol. Cruise companies struggle with this practice because they prefer that you buy alcoholic beverages at bars on the ship, so consider yourself warned. You may have your bottles confiscated upon boarding. Read a separate article on how to smuggle your alcohol on board.

Clothes and Shoes

Almost all liners have swimming pools, so take swimsuits and swimming trunks. Even if it’s cold outside, many pools have sliding roofs, and you can swim in them in the winter. But do not take an expensive swimsuit, as the water in swimming pools is chlorinated, and after bathing it can lose its appearance. For visiting the gym – sneakers are required, without them they will not be allowed in the gym. For active shore excursions they will come in handy too. In case of cool weather take outerwear, the liner sails in the open sea at a speed of 40 km / h, on open decks can be fresh. A raincoat or umbrella won’t be out of place, though premium companies usually have umbrellas in their staterooms. During formal evenings on the liner, a dress code is imposed after 6 p.m., with business attire recommended for men and elegant attire for women. For more information on how to dress and what to wear on a cruise, read a separate article.
